Good-bye Poetry Month 2012

I began the month by reading and writing poetry with a small group of women at the RI women’s prison. It was not what I expected. Three were young, and reminded me so much of my students at Seekonk High. The other was older and well-versed in poetry. It was humbling. They were good and their words were powerful. I missed the second session because I was in Iowa. The third is Monday. I will be there. Thankfully.
