Weekly photo challenge: Up

Weekly photo challenge: Up

If you don’t look up — and down — in Charleston, you will miss the most interesting bits of iron scroll work. I spent an hour in the art museum and three hours walking down lanes and alleys. I also loved the windows and window boxes. I’ll save the windows for another photo challenge.

  1. Julia, how right you are. Everywhere I have been in France has been an experience in discovery. I love getting lost and I find so many treasures that are not in any guide book. Naturally, the architecture is stunning. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

  6. Thanks for sharing the photo. It takes a lot of skill and artistry to create decorative iron work. In Charleston, African American, Philip Simmons, was responsible for much of the noteworthy iron work in that city. His craftsmanship was recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts when he was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship.
